VENEZUELA

 

The country of the resistances, the ample coastal line pertaining to the Caribbean in the north, until the dense amazonian forest to the south. To the east the spectacular plateau of the Gran Sabana is located, and the snow-covered summits of the Andes dominate the western zone. Limited with Brazil, Colombia, Guayana. Venezuela by its biogeography position has contributions of flora and fauna of perimeters like the Caribbean, the Andean, amazonian and Guayanas; this last one has almost exclusive conditions, as much in the continent as in the world.

Inhabitants: 25.375.300    Capital: Caracas.

Its climate is Tropical, but the temperatures vary greatly with the altitude.

In Venezuela is possible to say it has two stations, a dry station that goes from December to May and a rainy station the rest of the months of the year. Venezuela counts on a very diverse flora and abundant fauna, which varies its habitat depending on diverse agents.

About the mammals in Venezuela you find the jaguar, puma, chigüire, the manatí, the howling monkey, the Pereza and fresh water dolphins. Also the giant otter, rarest of the world is in the country.

About birds counts on many species, the condor, the guacharaca, the flamenco, the pelican, parrots, Guacamayas and toucans as well as a rare nocturnal species, like the guacharo. The reptiles include Caymans, iguanas, serpents like boas and the anaconda considered the biggest serpent of the world.

Venezuela has an excellent affluence of international tourism so it makes the country of unforgettable memories by its people.

 

BOLIVAR STATE

 

It is located at the south of Venezuela, coordinates 03°45’ 55 ", 08°26’ 40 " North latitude and 60°16’ 17 ", 67°25 ’ 56 " west longitude. Limited by the north and the West with the Orinoco River, that separates it of the states Anzoátegui, Guárico and Apure; by the south with the Amazon state and Brazil; by the East, with the English Guayana and by the Northeast with the Amacuro Delta State

Its capital, Bolivar City, founded in 1764. Bolivar State has a surface of: 240.528 km2 what is 26% of the Venezuelan territory. Biggest of the states of Venezuela, politically it’s divided in 11 municipalities, Heres, Caroní, Piar, Padre Chien, Roscio, Sifontes, Gran Sabana, Raul Leoni, Sucre, and Cedeño.

It’s Population 900.300 habs. According to census of 1990 with a density of 3.8 habs/km2. That becomes it the seventh state with more population of the country. Projection (year 2.000): 1.306.651 Inhabitants, year 2005: 1.500.000 inhabitants approximately Annual Average Temperature (Max-Min): Between 27º and 30º C (Zone of Puerto Ordaz). Between 27º and 31º C, (Zone of City Bolivar). Between 18º and 23º C (Zone of the Gran Sabana).

It is a state Rich in natural wonders like the Angel waterfall (highest of the world), tepuyes (flat mountains), Great and Mighty rivers like the Orinoco and the Caroní and by all means the Gran Sabana, that is one of the most beautiful regions of the world.

ANGEL FALL

 

The Angel waterfall also is called Kerekupai-meru by the native whom in the Pémon language “waterfall of the deepest place” means... the highest waterfall of the world with near 978 ms of fall permanently. The river that fall from the Auyantepuy and form the Angel Fall is the Churum River; therefore Churún-Merú is the name that the natives gave to this mountain. The Canaima´s national park is located at the Southeast of Venezuela in the state of Bolivar (5°56'43 " N, 62°26'57 " Or).  With almost a kilometre of vertical fall, the Angel waterfall is the highest cascade in the world.

Was discovered in 1910 by the explorer Ernesto Sanchez but its officially discovery was attributed to the aviator Jimmy Crawford Angel, who showed it to the world in 1937 after he landed on the top of the Auyan Tepuy with his airplane when he looking for gold in the zone.

Ernesto Sanchez the Cruz not only discovered Angel waterfall he also made other discoveries; sometimes he used to go into in the forest per periods of 3 or 4 months. He made the notification of the Angel fall finding to the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons and years later were called and recognized as the true discoverer, which he answered “whom God give it, San Pedro blesses it “many years before Jimmy Angel had discovered to Salto Angel, Sanchez Cruz had deposited the planes of the route to arrive to this waterfall in the Blohm House, in the City of Bolivar.

 

DELTA AMACURO

 

Located at the east of Venezuela, it lodges the delta of the Orinoco river, coordinates 70º 38´ and 10º 3´ of North latitude and 62º 30´y 59º 48 of west longitude. It limits the north with the Gulf of Pariah and the Atlantic Ocean, the south with the state of Bolivar, the east with the Atlantic Ocean and Guyana and the west with the Monagas state. It occupies a surface of 40.200 km ² and their capital is Tucupita´s town. Its temperature average is about 26, 7º C, varying very little during the year. The rainfall varies between 900 mm and 2500 mm per year the federal territory Amacuro Delta was created like territorial division the 27 of February of 1884, between 1893 and 1901 was part of the state of Bolivar, in 1991 acquired the category of state. Tucupita experienced a great grow from 1933 thanks to the oil operation that stayed until beginnings of the decade of 1960 At the present time have settled administrative, commercial services, sawmills and refineries of the near petroleum deposits, reason why Tucupita concentrates 76.5% of the population of the state.

Their native population the Warao town or “‘People of the Canoes ’” is the native ones of the delta. With a population of 24.000 inhabitants. The houses of the Warao are essentially palafitos (Indian houses constructed over the river) to borders of the smaller sewers of the Orinoco. Its main activity is the fishing and the crafts

The Gran Sabana

 

The Gran Sabana it is located at a natural region at the south of Venezuela in the bulk of the Guayanas, in the South east part of the Bolivar’s State at the border of Brazil, its temperature average is about 23ºC. In order to arrive at the Gran Sabana it is necessary to journey the asphalt road that it crosses it between Gilded and the border Brazil, also can take an airplane until Santa Elena de Uairén. At the places of greater attractive it is arrived in vehicles of double traction. To arrive to the famous Cavak caves must be made by aerial route.

The most interest places for the tourist are: Jasper, the Danto, the Aponwao (Chinak-meru), Kamá, Kawí, Kukenan, Yuruaní and Karuay waterfalls, the Paují community, Santa Elena de Uairén, Mission of Kavanayen.

Canaima´s National Park

 

At the south of the Orinoco river, Bolivar state, Independent Municipality Gran Sabana and Sifon´s independent municipally, in the region of Guayana Is located the Canaima´s National Park, climate average oscillates between 21° C and 10° C of temperature Has an extension of about 3.000.000 of hectares until the border with Guyana and Brazil. Near 65 % of the park it is occupied by rock, plateaus tepuis (flat mountains). These constitute unique, biological and a great geologic interest. Their steep cliffs places and their high waterfalls form spectacular landscapes.
In June of 1962 was decreed national park 12.
Canaima includes savannahs and tropical humid forest. There exist more than 6 thousand species of present plants, of which near 500 species are Orquídea.
The rivers, forests and savannahs constitute the most special elements of the zone.
The vegetation in tepuyes (flat mountains) varies from the tropical humid forest with a great diversity of species; in the zones of savannahs and valleys the griminess prevails, with a view of gallery forests.

The fauna of the park very is varied. They exist around 150 species of mammals, 550 of birds, 72 of reptiles and 55 of amphibians. All the existing animal species in the park are scattered according to varied environmental agents like the height and the type of vegetation.
Between the mammals we have the honey bear, moose or tapir, lapa, báquiro, picure and puma. Also it excels the anteater, the jaguar, the giant otter, the araguatos fox and monkeys. Between the birds, the eagle arpía, the palomero hawk, Guacamayas dwarfed and the colibrí. Very heterogeneous flora and without number of Orquídea and bromelias they embellish the forests and in summits of tepuyes they grow numerous endemic plants.
Between the most attractive species are the carnivorous plants that catch insects, to obtain necessary sustenance for their feeding. Among them we can mention: heliamphora nutans, drosera roraimae and utricularia quelchii.
In the majesty of this natural landscape other strolls can be carried out. Most well-known they are the excursions to the cave and Kavac waterfall. The park has excellent geographic, environmental, historical and cultural scenes, which turns it one of the zones of greater tourist attraction of Venezuela.

One of the most fantastic places of the country, is without a doubt are; Canaima´s lagoon, In this lagoon you can see the hacha, Wadaima, Golondrina and Ucaima waterfalls, and the 3 tepuyes that accompany any Vista from Canaima: The Nonoy-Tepuy (Zamuro), the Kuravaina-Tepuy (Deer) and the Topochi-Tepuy (Blowpipe).

This National Park is one of most fascinating and interesting of the country and the world, which has turned it one of the most visited by foreign tourists.

Canaima

Canaima is a located indigenous community in the nor Eastern sector of the Canaima´s National Park, the lagoon of the same name is surrounded by spectacular waterfalls like the Sapo, the Sapito, Yuri and Hacha, we could say that it is the capital of the park if this it were a state, there are great variety of places worthy to visit famous world-wide level by its great beauty and tourist importance,

Not very far, about 20 mnts. Of flight or 4 hours in curiara and walking is the majestic Angel waterfall, with approx 1000 mts. Height. Its river the churum is born at the top of Auyantepuy and ends at the Carrao River and this it forms the lagoon of Canaima as well finishing in the Caroní River to little kilometres of this community.

Other near sites of interest:  Yuri’s waterfall, the Expresses of Mayupa, the located Caves of Cavak in the valley of Kamarata at the south of the Auyantepuy, the cave of Uruyén at the west of Auyantepuy, the Orquídea Island where the rivers Carrao and Churum are united.

The age of Auyantepuy is considered between 1.200 to 1.600 million years equal age has these famous caves worthy to admire.

The access to Canaima is only possible in airplane since not yet they have been constructed a highway.
